St James offers a range of activities to support families (keep an eye on our Facebook page for news of events):
Dads and Kids is held on the third Saturday of each month from 10:45-12:00 and is a great chance for dads with young children to get together around some banter, bacon rolls and coffee while the kids play.
The Art and Crafts Club is held on the first Sunday of each month from 3-4pm and is a space for children and parents to be creative together in different art forms, take part in games, enjoy a bit of singing and storytelling and finally some food. Sunday church can be tricky for families with young children so this space allows everyone to relax, have fun and explore themes and life events that have a deeper meaning.
The Summer Fair in late August is a very popular event which regularly attracts hundreds of people. Activities include a bouncy castle, face painting, games, treasure hunts, barbeque, live music, arts and crafts, ball pool, etc. It is a great celebration at the end of summer of the vibrant life of our local community.
St James hopes to offer parenting courses to help great parents be even better parents. We will be using very well regarded material from Care for the Family that has proven very effective in its honest and down to earth approach to parenting. The course offers parents the chance to share the joys and challenges of parenting and encourages the development of mutual support during the course and beyond.
St James also host a wonderful Toddlers group on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday mornings which is a long established and very popular group.
