St James offers a range of opportunities for older people to enjoy the company of others and celebrate their stories and rich histories. When COVID-19 restrictions are lifted the Tuesday Club and the Men’s Lunch Club will resume as follows:
The Tuesday Club meets at 2pm in the church hall to provide fellowship and activities for retired folk in our wider community. There is either a speaker on a topic of interest or table games and quizzes. There is always refreshment provided but sometimes a light lunch is served beforehand at 1pm.
Every few months we organise trips. Recent places have included the Trossachs, the V&A Museum, Edinburgh and Burns’ Cottage.
The Men’s Lunch Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 1pm at a local restaurant and is a great time for chatting and enjoying the company of some of Bishopbriggs’ greatest raconteurs.
The Walking Group visits local country parks and other scenic spots regularly as physical exercise is an important part of staying active. All levels are catered for and accessibility is always considered. Transport is provided and coffee and tea afterwards is a must.
