Lent Thought for the Week 2

Our Rector, Paul, offers his first Lenten Thought for the Week:

Just a wee thought to follow on from Kate’s reflections on Sunday on Jesus using the image of a mother hen wanting to protect it’s chicks under her wings.    On Tuesday we came across this verse in Ruth 2:12 when Boaz says these words to Ruth a young widow, and foreigner too, who has looked after her widowed mother in law and brought her home

“May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

Again we have this image of God offering shelter and security when times are bad and life seems very very fragile and uncertain as it did for that young refugee woman Ruth.

May this promise and image of God, a very maternal image really, bring some comfort and hope to your life this week…what would taking refuge under God’s wings look like for you?
