Rector’s Sunday with a difference

Lots of people

On Sunday 12 May 2013 the Rector of St James the Less made it round the course of the Glasgow Women’s 10k and in a fairly acceptable time of 1hr 5min 29sec!  ( If you are ever in the company of runners you come to realise the seconds are important!)  Not everyone made it in time for the group photo before the run but there were lots of happy faces even though the rain had started and it was chilly.

Rev Bryan Owen kindly took the services in support of Shelley as she jogged & walked a bit as the services took place.   Maggie Patterson who is a friend of Shelley’s organised a group of women to run with sixty for six ribbons, although all at their own pace, for her sixtieth birthday for six charities.  Shelley ran for one of the charities that she feels St James folk will relate to: the sixth charity which is a project taking pupils from Springburn Secondary school to Malawi.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Rector by sponsoring her for the race.  Over £300 was raised to support Springburn Academy’s developing link with Malawi.
